Sotomayor

• Sonia Sotomayor's capacities have been question ever since she was nominated as a supreme court judge. It is just so aggravating that she is put under a microscope to see whether she is capable or not. I believe if President Obama reflected upon her experience and legal background and dedication then we should look upon that as well. She should not be just gendered but insulted in some way as a "fiery Latina tempest waiting to knife and brutalize lawyers in the court room" and just depicted as one a women then a "brutal Latina". The short clip that presented some really bad arguments and decisions from previous men judges of the supreme court are just simply a call to arrogance because not only were they completely wrong in their answers but weer way of reasoning. If Sotomayor had done comments that not only stated what these judges said she would have been murdered by the media and criticized by all. It is just unfair that a very well prepared person has to make herself credible when she is in th first place. Not only she has had to over come obstacles coming from the Broxs’ projects but earning a summa cum laude from Yale Law. People does this not say anything, and not to mention a rigorous law background and service. Sotomayor serves as an example of how dedication is needed more and more by women but she is also a symbol of the inequalities that continue to exist. Issues like these should become more public not the lack of a judge but the ignorance that continues to flow due to the lack of acceptance of women in any type of prestigious positions.
