Sotomayor the newbie of 54 years old that sworn into office as the second women to supreme court and first Hispanic in the Supreme court. In the article done by CNN (a short documentary)on this figure that has taken the role of the newly appointed supreme court judge by President Obama. This Supreme Court Judge is not only praised for her gender in relation to the position she is to take but also her ethnicity and background. I found the idea of Sonia Sotomayor being the first Hispanic women in the position she was given very uplifting but it also brought a sweet and bitter some taste. Not only was she being criticized harshly on being weak and racist and that maybe due to their minority group relation she might not be just. I found all of these comments done in the news very a paling but significantly offensive. Here is a woman that is another candidate for the Supreme Court judge and before even sworn into office she is already being criticized. Once in office (August) she is still questioned of her capacities as if just being a minority she did not have to work as hard to be in the position she is in. She did not only graduate in the top of her class from Princeton but she went on to law school in Yale Law. It seems as the article states how Sotomayor being a minority is entitled to take notice on those that are the minority workers as well, the article states that Sotomayor is humble and notices everyone in the court from the janitors to the court clerks. I find it empowering that Sotomayor is in the position she is. As a women and a minority there a very few positions filled by those that I constantly are around me however I disagree that the focus in Sotomayor are her ethnicity and gender as if inly those were the roles that got her in the position she is in now.
