Fashion and politics are a very intriguing topic to talk about. Not only is fashion important for models and celebrities but it is important for lawyers(women) and those that have a prestigious position in law or the court. Women are more critized by their clothing then men in all aspects of their work or profession. In the readings as well in the powerpoint presentation presented by Dr.Romero, it show findings about how women tend to wear more traditional clothing as well as non revealing. Even though the readings suggests that if one is attractable there are findings that those that are tend to be the ones are more acceptable the other side is that they are scrutinized for it as well by other colleagues and ultimately affect their work or reputation. One of the most prominent figures in our era has been the first Lady Michelle Obama. She has not only revolutionized the way the traditional eye should look at a first lady but has changed the whole perspective of women, work and professional attire. I do not find it at all improper to see Michelle Obama wearing colorful outfits but maybe it was due that she was portrayed more as a celebrity then a lawyer or first lady. Without mentioning the investment that she has made in clothing that has not been at all inexpensive. The whole notion of representing the government makes everything around a person very formal and especially clothing. I think it is a reality that everyone is a bit scared to portray their sense of style in professional settings not only is out of the norm but it presents a lot of boundaries that still need to be examined as staying modest and professional. Overall I would conclude by stating that clothing should not define the individual but unfortunately it really does. The more it is spend on clothing it seems as the person is more credible. Clothing can be seen as a distraction and inequality. Not only is clothing making a statement of power but of what might not be true but suggested as having more credibility if a particular clothing or accessory is worn.
